Laurel has 30 years experience in serving individuals with Learning Disabilities and Attention Deficit/ Hyperactivity Disorders. She is trained as a Learning Disabilities diagnostician and specializes in the area of transition—from high school to post-secondary education to employment to independence and self sufficiency.
From 1985 to 1991 Laurel was the Director of the Office of Specialized Services at Ramapo College of New Jersey, which provides a comprehensive support program for students with physical and learning disabilities. During this time she also served as a national advisor to a three-year study conducted by Educational Testing Service (ETS), the Association on Higher Education and Disability (AHEAD), and the George Washington University HEATH Resource Center. The study examined model programs and best practices in the area of post secondary education and disabilities over a ten-year period.
Laurel relocated to Savannah, Georgia in 1991 as the Executive Director of Royce Learning Center, a non-profit organization specializing in the education of children and adults with LD, AD/HD and other special needs. Here she served as Principal of the day school, provided clinical supervision for psycho-educational evaluation services and supervised regional tutorial and adult literacy programs.
Laurel holds a B.A. in Special Education from Glassboro State College, an M.A. in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Montclair State University and has completed coursework in the Higher Education Administration Ed.D. Program at Georgia Southern University. She is a member of the Institute of Coaching Professional Association (ICPA), the Learning Disabilities Association of America (LDA), and Children and Adults with Attention Deficit Disorder (CHADD).

Helese received her Social Work degree from University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa in 1981. Helese has worked as a Social Worker in a Child Adolescent and Family Unit dealing with a wide range of behavioral and educational problems in children and adolescents. Before moving to the United States, Helese helped to establish a child abuse clinic and a telephone counseling service for abused children in Johannesburg. For 10 years she was the program coordinator of the Tutoring Center at Royce Learning Center where she was involved in educational consulting, testing and working with students with special needs. Helese has had over 25 years experience working with and counseling children, adolescents and families in a variety of settings focusing specifically on educational and emotional needs.
Helese is an affiliate of the Highland Ability Battery. Helese is an professional member of Independent Educational Consultants Association and a member of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW), the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC), the Higher Education Consultants Association (HECA), and the Southern Association for College Admission Counseling (SACAC).
